is a city of squares that are amusing for visitors in various aspects.
One of the most inspiring squares in Madrid is Plaza de Cibeles. It is a
beautiful square having high traffic most of the times. The reason is
the existence of majestic buildings in and around this square.One of the
reasons of fame of Plaza de Cibeles is the presence of Placio de
Comunicaciones in it. It is the city hall that remained museum of
communications till 2007. It was created by Palacio in the year 1909.
Another commonly used name for this place is Ayuntemiento de Madrid.
There is a fountain named as Fuente de las Cibeles. This fountain is named after the Goddess of nature. It is considered as an important landmark in the city of Madrid. This fountain was originally created in the year 1782. This fountain is important for football lovers as there are lots of pictures of players from Real Madrid around this fountain. After every victory there is a photo session of players around this fountain which becomes a memory for all. The fountain has auspicious looks as the Chariot of Goddess is pulled by two lions in its design.
One of the majestic buildings around Plaza de Cibeles is Banco de Espana. It is headquarter of central bank of Spain and it holds importance for whole of Spain for the same reasons. There is old part of the building that was constructed in the end of 19th century. It borders with another square in Madrid which is known as Cibeles Square. The modern part of the building belongs to the 20th century. Around 30 meters under the modern building the bank has an area where it stores gold. It is well equipped with all modern day security installations and it is highly secure in that way.
In front of the bank there is another majestic building with the name Palacio de Linares villa in argentina. It was created in the year 1973 and it is basically a baroque style Palace. The founder of this building was a rich banker with the name Jose de Murga. This building faced depreciation with the passage of time. It was also considered as a haunted place. However Spanish authorities have renovated and decorated it well up to the modern standards. It is now used as an art gallery showing art from Latin America mostly.
