Tourist Attractions in Cantabria Region of Spain

The region of Cantabria stands out as a result of the varying climate and landscapes that it has. It has beautiful mountain ranges within which you will find eagles, wolves and bears. The animals are found in the natural preserve within the Picos de Europe mountain range. It also has rivers which has great numbers of trout and salmons.

Of major interesting and curiosity in the region is the Pico de Tres Mares and each drop from here is believed to make its way to the Atlantic Ocean through Duero River or to the Cantabric Sea through Nansa River or even the Mediterranean Sea through Ebro River. This peak is therefore a great attraction in the region and it well worth visiting while here on holiday or a much needed vacation.

Away from the mountain ranges and rivers, Cantabria also has very romantic and beautiful fishing villages. The bays found here are quite striking and they make a beautiful contrast of the coast together with the villages. Here you will also find green hills and valleys. It only means that as you embark and continue with your tour of the region, numerous landscapes will be revealed with each having unique beauty to it.

Santander is the capital of Cantabria and it stands on a very beautiful bay Villas Sant Pere Pescador. The city is of great economical importance and culture boils from here. The international festival and Summer University are the most outstanding of the city and you will also find the sporting facilities remarkable. It is the best place for people looking for fun filled leisure time.

Santillana de Mar is a medieval town situated few kilometers away from the capital. It has historical value with the most treasured among them being the Altamira Caves with their pre historic importance. Other major attractions that you will find within and around Santander include Cabarceno Natural Park and Santa Maria Church. The natural park has animals from across the world and from all five continents for that matter all based on the singular but outstanding landscape.

Cantabria boils with popular and colorful customs and the art, gastronomy and nature of the region makes it very ideal for any holiday. It is one of the best holiday destinations in Spain and you should only expect the very best from it regardless of the length of the holiday you are spending here.
